Privacy Policy

This explains what Popabout collects and why. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
What we collect
- Your phone number, to sign you in.
- The profile you create (name, username, photo, interests) and what you do in the app: saves, reminders, check-ins, follows, friends, blocks and reports.
- If you run a business: your business page and pop-ups, which are public, and the owner's legal name and birthday, which are private and used only to confirm the business is real. Business owners must be 18 or older.
- Crash reports, tied to an anonymous account ID.
What stays on your phone
- Your location, if you allow it, is used on your phone to show what's nearby. It isn't sent to us.
- Your camera is used only to scan Popabout codes. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
Who can see what
- Other people can see your profile. Your saves and reminders are visible only to your friends.
- Businesses can see who follows them, but not who saved or checked in to their pop-ups.
- Some business pages are made from public information. The business can claim the page or ask us to remove it.
Services we use
- Supabase (stores app data), Twilio (sign-in texts), Apple Maps and Mapbox (maps and address search), Anthropic (checks new posts against our guidelines), Sentry (crash reports) and Expo (app updates and notifications).
Your choices
- Delete your account anytime in Settings → Delete my account. This deletes your profile and activity. A business's pop-ups are archived.
- Turn off location, camera or notifications anytime in your iPhone's Settings.
Kids
- Popabout isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Contact
- If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. Questions or removal requests: hello@popabout.app.
